Cleansing Programs and Your Health
Before starting a cleansing program, it would be best to understand that every hour, minute, and second of the day, your body is cleansing itself of toxins which may be harmful to your health.  

However, thanks to Hollywood actors and actresses, the use of cleansing programs for weight loss, better skin, and overall health improvements are all the rage.  

In fact, enter “cleansing program” into the master search engine Google, and you are apt to find over 2 million different entries, links, and programs related to cleansing your body.  

But what exactly is a cleansing program anyhow?  Isn’t it just a regular detox program in disguise?  

The answer is yes.  

The goal of both programs is to aid the body in cleansing it from toxins, both from inside your body (cellular metabolism), and from toxins which you are constantly exposed to from outside (environmental) of your body.  

A detox program and a cleansing program, therefore, fall under the same category.  

Ways to Perform a Cleansing Program


Cleansing programs have a higher purpose than just increased weight loss and more energy.  

For many, a cleansing program could be a way to start fresh, to eliminate poor eating, and start to develop lifelong healthy nutritional and exercise habits.  

It should be noted that your body already has systems in place (skin, lungs, intestines, kidneys, liver, and the lymphatic system) that do a very good job of cleansing your body from harmful toxins which could lead to poor health.
Any good cleansing program should start with the very basics – good, clean, water and plenty of fresh air, as these nutrients assist your body in its normal cleansing activities on a day-to-day and moment-to-moment basis.  

This will show that your body is already cleansing itself on a daily basis and that you shouldn’t jump on the cleansing bandwagon if the basics (clean water and fresh air) are not already put in place.  

With that said, to start a cleansing program you should minimize your use of alcohol, caffeine, junk food, high sugar foods, and processed foods.  

A week before your scheduled cleansing program is to start, you should start to slowly avoid certain foods that take longer to digest, which can put added work onto your digestive system.  

To start the cleansing program, you should increase your fruit and vegetable intake, and eliminate your intake of nuts, grains, dairy, and meats.  

The increased intake of fruits and vegetables may provide essential nutrients and fiber that your body needs in order to cleanse itself properly.  

However, with that said, the composition of most fruits and vegetables contains plenty of water, which is a key factor to a successful cleansing program.

Is a Cleansing Program Right For You?


If you are one who thinks that a cleansing program may be right for you, you may want to speak with your health care provider before starting one.  

Even though cleansing programs have gained tremendous popularity as a way to lose weight and eliminate toxins (due to the increased use and promotion by many famous TV and movie personalities), they may not be right for everyone.  
However, your body has natural organs and systems that constantly, almost every second of the day, cleanse your cells and organs of toxins that may be harmful to your body.  

Full-body cleansing programs have been commercialized as a way to detoxify all the organs and cells of your body.  

Your body, however, does not go through a process of detoxifying one organ at a time, but all organs and cells of your body detox and are cleansed at a similar pace.  

In conclusion, cleansing programs, along with detox programs, have gained popularity for their ability for quick weight loss.  

Not everyone should be put on a detox program, especially if there are chronic health conditions.  

A cleansing program may be just another program that may not live up to the hype that is associated with it, and it is also lacking in research-based results.
